It had been a while, but the journey always brought them back together. The attraction was intense, the flavors an intoxicating blend of deep cherry skins, smoldering wood fire and exotic spice. He comes through my door every 3 years. It started when he was younger - the cream of the crop - swinging with notes of dark fruits and filling the senses with his presence. Time passed and maturity gave him a lush, inky dark perspective - one with sultry crooning notes of currents, pepper and the richness of an old French oak bar. He is the "king of the hill," this one; a legend that lingers at his table weaving together the words of well told stories late into the night.

Bold and brazen, he is not one to back down.  A champion with spice both on and off the field, he hails from the four best barrels of the vintage.  Comfortable flexing a bit of muscle from aging exclusively in 100% new french oak, he softens a bit only when he arrives at home.  Once there he shows his gentle side of chocolate covered cherries, cola and oiled leather.

Saturday’s late night dancing fills the air with notes of cracked pepper and chocolate while Sunday’s drive down a country road coats the palate with rich cherry, blackberry and plum.  A touch of class and a bit of whimsy – she is everyone’s favorite.  This is a wine for those that like to explore.
